I was asked to create an advertisement for an object. I chose cologne.
I draped black fabric over a wall and table, then placed the bottle of cologne, darkened the room, and got ready to video. Right away, I knew I wanted to use light effects when filming.
Using a gimbal I took about 40 minutes footage. Doing different motions with a light, I zoomed in, out, and around the bottle. Then, I took numerous shots of the cologne bottle being slid across the table, picking it up, and putting it down.

My next step was editing. Opening CapCut, I picked out my favorite clips and discarded the rest.
When I finished, I had less than a minute of videos. I then decided how I would showcase this product and what energy I wanted it to give.

I focus on the color and look of the cologne. The dark bottle with the blue cologne already gives a mysterious, bold energy. This mixed with the light effects made my route clear.
I began shining little glimpses of light to introduce the general shape and hints of the name, later allowing the light to fully illuminate the bottle.
I added dynamic shots, creating interest and real world context – allowing the viewer to imagine this product in their own life.

The next shots create further connection with the viewer, clarifying what it would be like to pick up and use this product.

In the video you see someone getting dressed up in a nice shirt – implying professionalism, confidence, & surety.
To wrap up, the catchphrase – fear nothing – is shown. This shot creates memorability, making it the final selling point – the most important clip.

Overall, this project tested my skills in video editing. The biggest challenge for me was narrating. This project allowed me to learn CapCut’s voiceover software, building my confidence to use my voice in current and future work.
